Mike is a provider for Mountain Training England (provider number 588), and has worked on courses spanning three decades. Whether you are on a training or assessment, Mountain Recreation is committed to providing you with a quality learning experience, with experienced instructors who love the outdoors.
As well as offering training and assessment courses, Mountain Recreation can also provide both pre and post assessment refreshers in any aspect of the syllabus.
The Mountain Training Ethos
Mountain Training qualifications train and assess people to look after other people in the hills and mountains of the UK, whether that's leading a walk in the mountains, coaching in a climbing wall or teaching multi pitch rock climbing. People who hold our qualifications have been assessed at a nationally agreed standard and may be volunteers, youth workers, outdoor instructors or teachers.
Mountain training believes in inspiring people from all backgrounds to enjoy walking, climbing and mountaineering with confidence and skill.
Mountain Leader Award (Summer)
The Mountain Leader scheme is designed for people who want to lead groups in the mountains, hills and moorlands of the UK and Ireland. It covers all aspects of navigation, group management, security on steep ground, campcraft, equipment, weather and much more.

Rock Climbing Instructor
The essential award for people looking to take groups climbing on crags in the outdoors, Mountain Recreation offers RCI courses in the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. Mike has been a course director for Mountain Training rock climbing instructors for over 20 years and has a wealth of experience teaching climbing to all ages and abilities.
